AJ Johnston

AJ Johnston is an Alt-Country singer/songwriter out of Amarillo, TX. He is Combat deployed Army Paratrooper, with an above knee amputation lost while serving. His injury and experiences lead to a thirst for life, and a high energy performance! His band has opened for some of the biggest names in the Texas Country/Red Dirt scene (Casey Donahew, Kevin Fowler, Charlie Robison, Zane Williams, etc...), and they have played some amazing, top venues. His songwriting is influenced by heartbreak, people's stories, and personal experiences. Songs like " Aged Rodeo", stemmed from real life experiences as a former bull rider; and "Flag Draped Box" is influenced from his experiences in Afghanistan, and the men he served with. He is influenced by Texas country/red dirt classics, with a hint of edgy punk rock roots.
